Drop this little bomb at your next party:

"The travesty is that Americans, for the most part, seemingly don't care. They've decided that government should be allowed to do anything and everything "if it makes us safer." In fact, many commenters on this subject on this site have said as much. So the heavy hand of government has grown bigger and stronger - as government is wont to do - and the USA PATRIOT Act has been renewed and strengthened."

Then send everyone here to read the rest of the Death of the 4th Amendment.

Here's another beauty:

"Some 30,000 people are now employed exclusively to listen in on phone conversations and other communications in the United States. And yet no one in Army intelligence noticed that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had been making a series of strange threats at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he trained. The father of the Nigerian "Christmas bomber" reported his son's radicalism to the U.S. Embassy. But that message never made its way to the right people in this vast security apparatus. The plot was foiled only by the bomber's own incompetence and some alert passengers."

How our reaction to 9/11 how led to the massive expansion of Leviathan and the further reduction of our Freedom.

If you have some spare change on you, take a gander at what's happenng to it right now.

Here's one of those way-too-revealing lines buried in NYT story that neither Conservatives or Progressives want to read:

"While the alleged abuses occurred during the Bush administration, the ruling added a chapter to the Obama administration's aggressive national security policies."

So how is it that merely voting "conservatives" back into power is going to be the salvation of Freedom, Liberty and the Republic when both sides are all about adding "a chapter" to "aggressive national security policies" that are just as easily used against American citizens? Consider the big picture here.

The title of this little piece is self-explanatory. But you have to read it to get the sense of what the author is saying - and why it is compelling.

Some interesting conversations lately with guests on my afternoon talk show. You can pick the guest and hear the chat whenever you wish.
